The magic system and the intrigue was quite fun and I always appreciate Elise Kova's writing. At points, the story felt slow and that ending definitely put a huge halt to my momentum, but since this is a series, I'm hoping book 2 pushes us along a faster rhythm.

The romance almost gave me The Cruel Prince vibes where it's ETL, but it's more of a he falls first situation.

I'm interested to see how Clara gets herself out of this one
